Oh I am you wiz o smart...so basically Laffy campus got a Regional by winning the SunBelt but losing to all the OOC ranked teams with the exception of Rice?

Because "ranked" teams don't matter when calculating RPI. The Cajuns played and beat more teams with higher winning percentages that played and beat more teams with higher winning percentages than Southern Miss did. Southern Miss got swept on the final weekend of the regular season by FIU, a team they had no business losing to. They got swept and finished 3rd in their conference. Chances are that you will not host a regional when you finish 3rd in CUSA in a year where the SEC and ACC are going to have 13 hosts.
I'd be willing to bet that the spot the Cajuns got wasn't ever debated with USM. USM was probably knocked out of hosting by NC State getting a regional -- that's their real beef. Unfortunately, uneducated rednecks (see: NoBoBullDog) will get upset about the other mid major hosting over their mid major instead of properly spewing their hate.

I have no ill will toward USM. I usually like their baseball program. I've seen a few of their fans making asses out of themselves on Twitter but whatever, they're upset. It's far more annoying to see it on this board when plenty of people have given plenty of reasons why the Cajuns were above USM in the pecking order. They've no one to blame but themselves for that.

Cajuns played 33 times away from home (road and neutral) and had a .576 WP away from home.
Southern Miss played 26 times away from home (road and neutral) and had a .462 WP away from home.
One midweek game between the two will be considered but not as much as the entire picture.

Yeah, I'll admit that I was surprised by that. I think Southern Miss deserved one over NC State and Vandy.
NC State's conference record was meh and they went 1-2 in the tourney (I think). Inflated RPI from ACC's dominance but the committee rewarded high RPIs.

Yea, blew a lead against FSU, lost to Miami on a 3 run game winning homer, and beat georgia tech in like 12.
I agree with the inflated RPI as well. I mean, I think state is a good team and all, and could have won the regional they woudlve been placed in as a 2 seed, but I sorta feel guilty like we stole this one.

Yeah, I definitely think NC State is a good team, I just don't necessarily think they were worthy of hosting, especially when the ACC already had so many host sites.
I wouldn't be surprised if Tech got sent to Baton Rouge as a 2 since they're a new Louisiana team in the mix.
Also wouldn't be surprised if either Lafayette or BR got Tulane as a 2 and Southeastern as a 3.

crazy how the committee actually did a good job by not giving a team out west a host spot just for the shite of it.
sec and acc got 13 of the host spots. didn't think that would happen either.
i think ULL deserves to host, but at the same time, not sure they deserve to be the ONLY mid-major conference team hosting. that was kind of surprising.

I think so, even though they fricked up down the stretch. Their RPI of 40 should be good enough with not a lot of stolen bids. I also don't think they can bitch too loudly if they're left out. Getting swept by Central Arkansas at the end of the season is a BAD look.

so, you guys talk up ULL's high RPI as a reason they should host (which i agree they should host), and then want to keep out a team that has the 18th-ranked RPI in the country?

They were the most deserving of the mid-majors. I think Southern Miss should be a host but it should be at the expense of the lowest of the SEC or ACC teams. Coastal's best shot was if they wanted to give Arizona a host as a 2.

I think LSU, Tulane, UL, Southestern, and Tech are the best 5 schools if I had to pick 5 to make the tourney. Only way it would be better would be if UNO somehow made it. The other schools wouldnt really get any rooting interest from me.
