The only place it's been less than twice as much as the first kid is healthcare. My wife went from being on an independent individual plan along with our first to moving to a family plan with her employer. We went from paying like $150 for each to like $375/ month for all 3 in the family plan.

That and already having clothes, high hair, car seat, etc. but frankly most of that was gifts.

The other way we've started and will have to continue to save money is a lifestyle change. We were still able to live well and stay busy socially with 1. With 2 it's a lot more difficult to we've tried to stop doing so much. We try to not go to events as much as just hang out with friends with kids at each other's houses and what not. The more kids you have the more keeping up with the Jone's becomes something you stop caring about.

Healthcare won't go up for us luckily. Once a kid is added, you become a family plan and no matter how many kids, it's the same price.

Daycare is our big one. Here in Houston, we pay ~$225 per week for one. Don't know if there is a discount for the second or not yet. That's the biggest expense.

Just don't want the rest of the expenses to hit us like a ton of bricks. Hoping most of the big things we are used to with our first and will slowly be transitioning from him to the next (so not doubling up). We do pretty well financially, so like you said, having 1 hasn't really stopped us from being able to do what we want (oh the money I've "wasted" on hobbies). I think this second one is really going to make us have to look at what we're doing more. I used to be that way, but when our incomes got so high that we were saving money even when we weren't paying attention, we lost that dedication. Harder to go back now, but we will get there.
