What time do you expect the mobile tunnel (eastbound) to be manageable this Friday evening (Memorial Day weekend)?
Yes, I use Waze and yes I know a few of the alternate routes.

Does anyone ever take exit 26B and then use the Bankhead Tunnel?

Last year we hit it at like 7pm on the Friday of July 4th evening and it wasn't bad at all.

Just rolled through at 6:30 with absolutely no delay whatsoever.

I haven't. Can you tell me more?
How far out of the way is it? Never any traffic?

10 am was packed. Took the bay bridge detour without tapping the brakes. Thanks for the waze app recommendation

It is basically a couple of blocks over from the main tunnel. I've only used it heading back west (if you take the exit that says "Govt St/98"). Bing Maps shows it.
The reason I mention it is because it seems like the traffic issue is getting down to the 2 lanes that go in the tunnel. The far right lanes of I-10 are usually dang near empty. You can take 26B, the exit before the tunnel, go over a couple of blocks and there it is.
I'm working from memory here, but heading East exit sign for 26B also says "Water St/Downtown"

165 to the Bay Bridge has always seemed like the most consistent route for me regarding traffic.
