The bottom line is if he "loved" the State of LA he wouldn't be holding them hostage on the Superdome deal. The leges have expressed interest under multiple governors to get a better deal....Benson has balked every time.
Benson is no friend of the state....he is in it to make money. There is no problem with this at all...but to paint the man as some kind of savior or "Louisian's favorite son" is down right idiotic.

They re-did the deal under Jindal at the state's asking. They literally did what you're stating.

Of course he's in it to make money
But lately, he's been giving that money away to causes around the city of new orleans

His purchase of both the Saints and Pels are the biggest reason they are still here. Saints would be in Jacksonville if he hadn't bought them...people seem to forget that.
I wouldn't call him a savior, but there are few people who have had a bigger impact on new orleans. That's the bottom line.

Good job Mercedes Benz.

Show me any human being worth 2 billion that doesn't.

No doubt he is great for the Saints....hell they wouldn't have won a Superbowl without the man.

How many billionaires does new orleans have?
I guess being rich makes that money less useful. That $20 million to Oschner's Cancer Center is nothing to turn your nose at

You should learn the "facts" before making comments. The new agreement was made in 2009 under Jindal making your previous statement just wrong.
I'd argue that it has easily been a great deal for New Orleans with the improvement of the area. Benson Tower was in ruins and the state didn't have the money to renovate it. The deal wasn't as good for the state, but that is the bullshite state of the NFL these days relying on public money

Not at all....but that doesn't change the fact that he did it for the tax break. If holding on to that money doesn't cost him money....he holds it.

Not exactly that 2009 deal lessened the burden on the state. The 2011 Mercedes Benz naming rights agreement took the burden away basically.

The deal wasn't as good for the state
Your damn right it wasn't....it took a very shitty immediately unsustainable deal to the realm of just shitty and sustainable for a few years.

No way should the states have to prop up these teams.

What do you think tax "breaks" are on charitable donations?

Yes, as any owner of an NFL team is
Only 32 available and not many ever go for sale. Or are you under the impression that the growth of the NFL is related to the Saints success under Payton
The saints and pelicans were both bought for incredible values given the growth of the both leagues

Nope

How many lives? What does that even mean? Are there structural issues with the dome that haven't been shared?

If you build a new stadium, you get a Super Bowl. That doesn't mean you should build a stadium to get a Super Bowl.

Should be an easy sell then as long as we're not going up a brand new stadium.
Derp
~$320m in 2006
~$340m in 2011
~$25m this offseason
Should be able to get some use out of that structure.

And what does that 385 over 12 years compare to the money LA will take in over the next decade(estimated)?

I hope the whole idiotic post was in jest.
And I'm not gonna take the time to repost all that other crap you wrote, but will just say that if you don't think the Superdome needs to go or just be rebuilt or redesigned then you and others like you continue to live in neverland. See if they ever get another Superbowl with structure and all?? Also, Benson's wealth coincided with the success of the Saints as I've said for the 99th time under Payton with them winning a SB and all. Not all that NFL gibberish you are saying. Sure, he was rich before, but nothing like the success he generated afterwards with marketing sales for the team going through the roof and all.(They basically took Dallas' place as America's team after the Katrina tragedy = $$$) That kind of profit allowed him to buy another pro franchise.

Downvoters I guess never experienced a gold digger. I've seen it and it usually plays out just like this.
Relative of mine dated Gayle for a few months. After they broke up, I asked him what happened, he said "I don't have enough money for her." He later married another gold digger who is doing the same thing. It's sad.

Is this a coherent thought?

engrish
What is wrong with the structure of the superdome? What do you mean by redesigned? It has been redesigned recently. No reason to build a new stadium, in a different location, as long as there aren't structural issues. I go to a road game every year and live in Houston. Having a retractable roof is a complete waste. The Texans never open theirs for a reason.
quote:
See if they ever get another Superbowl with structure and all??
So we should build a new structure to get a Super bowl? That's easily worth $1+ billion. The Dome is still competing with the new stadiums for these Super Bowls (finishing 2nd twice). Any new stadium is guaranteed a Super Bowl with tax payer money going towards it. It is how the payments are justified.
quote:
That kind of profit allowed him to buy another pro franchise.
Nothing to do with the growth of the NFL, or the fact that the Pels were bought for dirt cheap
Idiot

Everything you just said is completely idiotic. "engrish" ?? "wrote a novel"?? Do you not understand what reposts means?? Well you certainly don't know what the hell redesign means?? lol
And so because the superdome has a good, solid structure. That's reason to keep it?? Okay. What an idiot! They finished 2nd twice because of the venue, idiot, not the dome. New Orleans has always been a popular tourist destination without the dome. But argue on tard.
and Benson's surge in wealth had nothing to do with the success of the Saints after Katrina, right?? Just the NFL according to you. And I'm the idiot, dumb arse.
