Uber doesn't operate in Ascension Parish?

From the Advocate
It's been about 6 months since I used it last, but I've definitely been picked up and dropped off at my house in Prairieville. Is this something recent or are drivers just not caring about the "rules"?

The Ascension Parish Council is considering whether to open the roads in the parish to app-based ride-sharing services such as Uber and Lyft. The council will consider an ordinance at 6 p.m. Thursday in Gonzales that would clear the way for the services, including by requiring permits for the companies, company registries of their drivers and background checks and insurance on the drivers.

BR coverage area.
It is possible that some drivers are not even familiar with any rules, or that law enforcement would do anything. Who would pull some random person over for dropping off or picking up unless they were told to lookout for Uber drivers beforehand?

If you disregard the parish line, Prairieville off Old Perkins is more Baton Rouge than it is Ascension Parish.

This is why we need uber stings. We could have an undercover posting as a John who just wants a ride, then when that scumbag shows up to uber, we bust his arse, we bust it hard!
