For the most part my group does our own hunts on public land. We have a Catahula lake blind and one guy has a lease we make a couple hunts on a year. But we always try to take one or two weekend guided trips just to get away and hunt something new. Went to Catahula lake one year(before we had our own blind) and did pretty well. We went to Stuttgart 2 years made four hunts only killed birds 1 morning,, last year went to tunica Mississippi, killed 7 birds each morning and to Missouri snow goose hunting, killed only 4 geese in 13 hours of hunting,,,
Can someone please recommend a bang up hunting trip!
no more than a day's drive from the north shore, not looking all inclusive or for 5 star accommodations just a solid hunt!

my hunting on the coast has pretty much turned to shite over the last decade, so I am thinking of looking around some as well. I hear these guys are good and may give them a shot this year myself...

Weather is everything I had customers that every year would go hunting on the second week of January. That's great as long as the weather has pushed the ducks down but if that didn't happen the guide was to blame! Idiots

You really never know how the hunting is going to be really. Really have to get lucky sometimes. May look at some places in Kansas that some other ob'ers went to. They seemed to do well.

It's hard to beat the Hackberry, LA area for numbers in late Nov/early Dec. I prefer using HR&G just cause I know the owners but there are several over there.

Drake Plantation in Winnie, TX.

Hate to say it but every time I go to Stuttgart, it is a dud. In fact, I will never go back on my own dime.

For a solid road trip, I would look into Kansas/Okie.

I hunted there twice and killed a teal and a grey duck total there. It would take me 10 trips to go through a box of shells. I'll probably give it another try one day, but it's disappointing when the expectations are so high

Prairie Thunder Outfitters

This. We will be back again this New Years. Like mentioned already, it all depends on the weather.

Try top gun guide service in Mer Rouge. Davey and Colby Daniels are the best in the business and both are gentlemen. Also Tornado Alley in Kansas. I have hunted with both and they are top notch outfitters.
