I looked up some Internet chatter on connections at San Salvador Airport, I'd give it a try with 30 minutes.

Especially if your first flight arrives on time to SAL, it's been my experience that Avianca flights in Central America are not usually timely in departure times.

That means in the real world your connecting flight will probably not leave SAL on time.

Allegedly (from what I've read) all Avianca flights at SAL (Monseñor Óscar Arnulfo Romero International Airport) deplane and load into the same terminal so at least you won't have a connecting terminal issue.

Reminds me of Bangkok Airways FLT 924 from Siem Reap to Phuket via BKK. The connection time is impossible but they know that, so they won't leave without you. It is something like 45 minute connection, with deplaning, customs, and security with other flight passengers involved

Sometimes you have to research the specific flight to get real world idea of how its executed on the ground.
