I don't think #2 means anything.

I'm the same way. I think it is 95% probability that Miles stays, but until another coach is introduced at Michigan, it ain't over.
Remember, Saban said unequivocally last year he would not be the coach at Alabama. Les hasn't even said that. He's said he wants to stay (I wanted to stay in college at LSU but realized I had to move on and graduate), is the coach at LSU (sure, that is a fact, it means nothing), will be the coach at LSU (until when? next year? next week? until after the NC game?), etc.
I want to believe this is over, but part of me says it ain't over till its over. Does anyone really think it is out of the question that all this would stay mum until after he coaches the NC game then announces he's had a change of heart and wants to go to MI after all.
He did say in his press conference that he was "saddened" he could not go and be in two places at once. He obviously wants to go but there is an obstacle. It is probably not money but something more basic like having Lloyd Carr involved in the AD for the coming years. If the obstacle (whatever it is) is removed, Les may become less saddened.
