The hook took the place of the elite 7 hdi and chirp. its a great unit for the money
the elite ti is a gen 2 hds7 with newer features. I have two friends with them and they both love them also a good unit for the money. both also take satellite imagery cards

This is helpful,
The only thing the Elite Ti has that I would want over the Hook is structurescan, but I am not even sure I want/need that.

Yea that's helpful but if you plan on adding it go with the elite ti. the hook has no upgrade features.

The ti has a faster processor. If you were running a eagle i think the hook series would work just fine.

How difficult is the install? I assume I need to use the new transducer. I have no idea how to run the cable. The current power and other go through the console with some odd fittings. Sounds like something my boat guy needs to do.

I would reccomendations you install a transducer shield when you do install. This is the brand I like.

My neighbor runs 5" Lowrance HDI on his 18' CC. It is feature packed and gets the job done. 7 would be nice but at the same time its nice not having huge screen in the way.
Install is rather simple. The transducer cable should run down a conduit through the hull to the back along with other wiring like ignition/throttle/trim. The transducer plug end is large and can be a biatch. You can "pull" the cable through conduit with any home improvement store electrical pull tape reel. Power is simple because you do not need to hook up the communications wires. Power is 3 wires IIRC, hot, neutral, ground

Lowrance® Hook-7 Mid/High DownScan Nav+ Sonar/GPS Combo to be ordered this week. Seems like they are $569 everywhere.

I run a Helix 5 GPS on the yak and love it. Been good for me from fresh to offshore.
