Would this open a can of worms if he could not give a name? I think he should be held accountable and explain.

How are you going to make him reveal anything. He is a news anchor. They all lie and frabicate their stories. He probably has done it more than once. That is what the news does. They make us believe things that aren't true and they try to get us all scared about things.

No but he should have to eat one of their mascots...I hear they're poisonous.

This 1 f-up does not make it wrong. He and ESPN has done this million of times and it held true. They are doing their jobs. They get info from their source and they leak it to the fan base. It is what fans want. Fans want to know what will go down as soon as possible. This just so happened to be wrong. They did get Pelini right though. And they are probably right about UCLA coach being fired.

Do you really want to see Herbstriet talking to a sock puppet?

I think it was Tenuta. The AJC says Tenuta and Herbstriet are good friends.

Did anyone hear Herbstriet's conversation on the Mike Tirico show this afternoon? I didn't, but I know Mike was going to question Herbstriet about it and was wondering if anyone heard exactly what Herb said?

something should be done about this. it's starting to be a real problem with news networks reporting the news before it actualy happens. herbstreit wanted to get the scoop, but instead made himself look like a fool.

I was actually thinking the opposite.

If Miles and Tenuta did in fact have contact, then Tenuta may be the #1 candidate for the job here. Michigan said they never contacted Les, there was never anything said about Les not contacting anyone else (by that I mean Tenuta, not Michigan).

Maybe Les called Tenuta to see what he thought if he decided to take the UM job, and JT agreed to go with him if he went. Maybe Les still wants Tenuta, which is why his name has surfaced in regards to the LSU job.

We'll never know all the behind the scenes stuff that happened.

FWIW, on 790 today one or two of the hosts said they thought Tenuta would end up at LSU if he doesn't get the HC at GT.

My friend in Detroit heard the interview on the local radio station. Herbstreit is claiming his source was someone on the Michigan coaching search committee.

What's the difference between Herbstreit reporting that Miles was going to Michigan and (1). Buddy Songy reporting last Wednesday at noon on the radio that Miles had accepted a deal with Michigan; (2) Jimmy Ott reporting the same later that evening; (3) Channel 9 Sports broadcaster reporting the same on Friday evening before game and throwing out names of replacements. All of these reports were made before the ESPN report and, since all local based, I would assume the "sources" were all from within LSU.

If Miles' agent talked to Michigan's agent would there be a contradiction. Nobody from Michigan University talked to Miles.

espn provides info but to use the words news and anchor describing anyone from that network let alone a former player who i'm sure is not flaunting a journalism degree on his wall is calling fox fair and balanced....use your words and better ones.

It's funny that people think Herbie had a source.
