Spillway vs pond crawfish?

Went pick up a few sacks and was asked which did I want. I was not really sure which was better. I went with spillway. Prices were the same.
Do you have a preference? Is one better than the other for any specific reason? Tia

Some will tell you spillway crawfish are better since they grow "in the wild".
I've never been able to tell any difference, I think it's all a matter of how good or bad you are at cooking them.

Agree with LC on this one...
only time it makes a difference to me is if the crawfish were deep water crawfish...
had a buddy that did it for a living back in the day and he would always call me when he had those deep water Atchafalaya River crawfish...usually large and clean...

Spill way look bigger and darker so people think they are better. I mean they look better but bigger is not better
Local shop here sells crawfish for 1.69. Beautiful big dark belle River crawfish. Then he sells small crawfish for .99
He will stress small over and over when you ask about them. They are just pond crawfish. Regular ole crawfish we all are our entire lives. But they insist on calling them small to get the customers to buy the bigger belle River for 1.69.
40 lbs is 40 lbs and the pond crawfish taste no different. Easy to peel and plenty of good meat.

to your point you get more meat with good sized "medium" crawfish because the large or "select" are all heads anyway...
Kevin's Crawfish on Ridge Rd. in Lafayette was selling them for $40 a 35LB sack last weekend while in BR (where I live) they were still going for $1.89 lb live for the same size...
since I drive to Lafayette every day in a company vehicle...it worked out...

I was wondering the same thing. Is the shell harder on one vs the other?

Red crawfish are better than the black and red for taste.
