Going to Exuma in August with the wife at Sandals. I wasn't crazy about going to a sandals but the wife has always wanted to. Any recommendations or tips?

We'll be going in January. Staying in a villa about 10 miles from the Sandals resort. Looks beautiful. Planning to rent a boat for a few days and do a couple excursions to see the pigs and snorkel. My wife and I have stayed at several Sandals properties on other islands and they're nice.

I was there for New Years. It was pretty boring. Closest town is 20 minutes away and it's a shithole.

Did you already book with sandals?

With your wife, if you just want to relax, you should have a great time. I'm probably just jaded because I spend a lot of time in the Bahamas for work.

Yea, I already booked with Sandals for August. Hopefully I'll find some time to go diving and maybe rent a boat. Thanks for the replies and good hearing that you enjoyed previous sandals trips.

Did the Four Seasons on Great Exuma and it was awesome.

Get out and away from sandals. Rent a car and drive all the way to the other end of the island(s) crossing the ferry bridge to little Exuma. Go to the public beach on little Exuma. Go to Santana's. Go to chat n chill. Hope you enjoy it. Favorite place I have been to so far. Came home truly relaxed.

It can get boring and the food is very limited (conch is good but quickly gets old) but if you want to relax on a beach and do some dives it is fine. They have some cool holes you can dive. There is fishing and thunder ball grotto is an attraction. Also note if you go to see those swimming pigs, some of them are mean frickers and will bite.

Hahahaha, that's good to know about the pigs. I checked out a few of the blue holes and it looks interesting. Going to have my brother and his wife along for the dives and they are beginners. Might have to break off and do the holes by myself. Thanks for the tips guys!

They have a pretty basic wreck dive that is decently deep, but probably still good for beginners. The blue holes are really interesting and somewhat nerve inducing.
There is an outfit out by the port that took us out. A bit of a drive from the Sandals area, but we were pleased with them.

One thing I'm probably doing is bringing down a small ice chest packed with meats (steaks, sausage, bacon, etc) and snack stuff for the kids. I read where the food options are limited and prices are very high. We'll eat out a good bit, but I always enjoy grilling some big steaks at least one night. Santana's looks like a great spot, and we'll take the boat over to Chat N Chill although I read where getting food takes 1-2 hours. Are there any other food options on Stocking Island?

No, only chat n chill is on stocking island. Good idea on the meats. We did the same. Got a soft sided cooler. We put a whole tenderloin, pork chops, 2 packs of wrights bacon, some Logan farms spiral ham, and a couple of pork tenderloins in. All solidly frozen until we left for the airport. The ground meat and chicken breasts were fine from Exuma market. There was another place, prime island meats, but we didn't go. Heard they have roast chickens etc..We didn't wait 2 hours for food at chat n chill. Maybe 1 hour and it was pretty busy during Bahamian Independence Day.
