I would like to see this personally, but I'm just one of those people who want to watch the world burn.

Has there ever been one of these disaster movies that was mainstream where humanity and Earth lost?

The only movie I can think of off the top of my head that treated alien invasion realistically, for 5 minutes anyways, was Battlefield Earth. Terrible movie, but their explanation of how long it took them to conquer Earth was probably the most accurate thing I had heard in a movie.

Of course, every thing after that was god awful.

They were both pretty crappy movies, but the Earth is destroyed at the end of both Knowing and Melancholia.
