I think the raked wingtipped birds are better looking than the planes with the winglet retrofits, i.e. 767-400, 747-8i, 787, 777-200LR-300ER.

Agreed, but when I was working in an MRO 10 years ago, winglet reftrofits were extremely profitable and they still are, with the newer split scimitar versions gaining in popularity.
