That's just a dry box attachment. I'm not interested in it personally

I love that feeling of putting a spinner right in front their face to where you don't even have to reel. Just pull the rod to get that blade to spin once or twice and BAM! I miss living in LA . Also, this is the reason I absolutely have to stand up if I am in a yak.
One thing I really loved about my limited time with a yak, was fish would swim right up to you like that. For some reason, that never happened in my flats boat. They'd do it, then spook and no way you could hook them. Whereas in the yak, sometimes it was like I was invisible.

quote:I was fishing in this shallow canal last summer and I see this redfish swimming directly at me. At this point in the canal, it was only about 5 or 6 feet wide. I get ready to cast at it but it's too close so I hold off. It swims within a foot of the kayak and doesn't spook. Once it passes, I lean back and literally just place the bait (2" from the rod tip) in front of its face. To my surprise, it took the bait and took off.

One of the more memorable fishing experiences for me.
I know, CSB.

man that looks fun...what type of kayaks do I need to start looking at if I want to do that?
That's a Native Ultimate that he's standing up in. I just bought an Ultimate 14.5' tandem at Pack & Paddle. $1300
