herbie should be fired for his leak or be forced to reveal his sources.
ESPN analysts are not held accountable for anything they say. He should say, "I use fan boards for all of my information." Although his screw-up may be the best thing for lsu.

He' probably a marked man in Michigan now.

Herbie was defending his source(s) again on college gameday final (despite Les clearly stating in the post game interview that he was not interested in the Michigan gig).
I think Herbie should be included in the "Inside Info" thread on the coaching changes board until said source is revealed. Put up or shut up Herbie!

As Lee Couso would say, Not so fast my friends.
Herby is embarrassed by this and doing pay back by pimpin LSU for MNC as if he was an LSU PIMP!!!
I will forgive him for this one day.

Pimp? Thats is the wrong usage of the word. if he was the Pimp what does that make all of us?

I am disappointed but I don't hold any bad feelings for Miles. He never said he was leaving LSU, the media did.

No one inside the Mich program would ever, ever speak to KH. He has shown time and again that he is no friend of Mich. Unless he got it from Bill Martin himself, ESPN should not have even let him air it. ESPN should now tell us who the source was and KH should have to do a public mea culpa over this.
I suspect that friends (and there is one in particular that sticks out) of Les who were likely seeing that his candidacy never was or was fading, desperately sought to rekindle the flame and it failed, because it never was.
I also think the media was inclined to hurl bombs, in both directions, seeing themselves as king-makers! Well now they look like the jesters they are.
By the way, Bill Martin is out of AA and is not expected back until mid-week. Wonder where he is????

He's in NY for a banquet on Tuesday. I think...

This is a great time to look for a coach, because the season is over and they are out-and-about making recruiting contacts before bowl practices get hot and heavy and the NCAA quiet period starts.
And it is less probable that media and fans can actually follow their trails. Pretty easy to meet someone in some backwater town for a short chat without public exposure.

are we still talking about coaches or is this a reference to baton rouge?

BR is fine with me. By the way congrats on Sat. night, I am all for LSU getting a NC shot. Anyone else in the game, while justifiable to some, would not really be the NC game in my opinion. In fact, I could see the writers doing a split thing if that happens.
No, this is about the fact that Bill Martin has left Ann Arbor and is not expected back until mid-week. Supposedly he is in NY at a banquet (that is an in-out kind of thing, so why 2-3 days?).
He could be anywhere and it is killing the Detroit/AA media that they cannot get a handle on this thing. BM said this search was going "underground." I think it has!

this is the last time you let desmond howard on the search committee.

That is a ridiculous notion...freedom of the press is based on reporters being able to protect their sources. The reporter is the one who takes the responsibility for the story's content once he reports it and he is the one who lives with the consequences! If Herbstreit trusted his source enough to run with it, he knows the consequences of his actions and should be held accountable this I agree. But stating he should have to reveal is source is just plain wrong.

Obviously the guy who made the post doesn't know. Herbie's actions and Libby's are not comparable in any way.

As long as Kirk gives homage to Les and LSU for the next 24 hours or more, and sways any dangling voters' opinions as to who should be in the NC game, I'm willing to forgive him.....
It's nice to see the guy squirm a little after his BS shots at Les and LSU all year!!

I think herb was just doing what he is trained to do... his job.

herbie could be novak, matt cooper, or any of the others that reported on the story. the point is that herbie should take the fall for his actions much like scooter libby did for his boss.
Does saying that we should play for the NC count as his redemption for what we now know to false accusations.
