It's a sport for good athletes who aren't good enough to make it in football or basketball.
That's not how it works.

I played in college and now help coach a club team on the summer recruiting circuit. The Northeast and Mid-Atlantic are definitely still the dominant areas, but the talent elsewhere is getting better. There are HS teams in Richmond, Charlotte, Atlanta, Denver, California, the Midwest etc. that can hang with anybody.

There is little doubt that New England and the Mid-Atlantic region is most dominant. They absolutely stack the national rankings with some California programs sprinkled in there.
On top of the other states/regions you mentioned, Georgia also has a couple very good teams.

Many Title IX "experts" claim the SEC will embrace women's lax conference wide within 10 years as a balance to football numbers. Once that catches on, men's lacrosse won't be too far behind as alumni donors will start to influence the addition at the D1 level throughout the Southeast.
LOL, no.
Women's LAX, maybe.
Men's won't happen anytime soon.

IMO, New England teams are pretty overrated. Deerfield and some of the teams in Connecticut are good, but there just aren't as many athletes up there.
Long Island, Upstate NY, Philly, Baltimore, DMV all are better hotbeds imo.
In regard to those other areas, it's all about the youth development catching up the athletes. If/when that happens, look out.

Lacrosse isn't the sport of the future, but it has a nice spot as a niche sport. It's huge in Maryland, even in the public schools (which is why even lower tier Maryland schools like UMBC and Loyola are nationally competitive - they have a steady supply of talent).
I am bothered by the fact that Maryland, my team, plays an excrutiating slow down style which, frankly, is terrible for the sport. Slow play is the biggest problem in the sport. It's just so easy for a good team to stall.

Women's lax, very much so. Vandy & Florida have set a terrific tone as to how lacrosse can be successful in the SEC.
Florida built a beautiful facility just 6 years ago. In their 1st season they made the post season. In the 2nd season they hosted the 1st round of the post season. Harvard was their opponent. Their coaches wouldn't let their players use the VISITOR'S locker room at UF on account of it was nicer than Harvard's home locker room for fear of losing transfers & future recruits.
They've finished Top 8 a few times already & are poised for a run at the title against Maryland this year.
That footprint, along with the terrific academic numbers put up by wlax student-athletes is VERY attractive to SEC schools, especially those NOT Title IX compliant. Adding wlax to the umbrella brings in upwards of 40-50 student-athletes vying for just 12.5 schollys. So the tuition dollars they bring in are quite solid.
In terms of implementation, wlax is a fairly inexpensive sport to bring to the fold. Spring season use of the existing wsoccer facility, uniforms, sticks, goggles, unis, travel, & coach pay (which isn't really above $100k for the HC).
So, anyone that understands women's sports/Title IX can see how wlax in a decade or so is quite realistic. Then mlax behind it in another 10 years or so.

You can keep saying this until you're blue in the face but it just won't happen.
MSoc is ahead of mlax, and msoc isn't coming anytime soon.

No sport is ahead of any other. That's 1 of the oldest myths in all of collegiate sports. It doesn't matter when a sport got to campus. Want proof? LSU Beach Vball...
It's all about the dollars. And lacrosse produces greater dollars (less of a loss) than soccer by way of out of state exposure & tuition/graduation rate. Roster sizes are simply 3 times as large & there's no leaving early for the pros/international play.

Was pulling for Maryland to beat Denver last year, but that Tierney team is loaded. Their offense was too fluid for Maryland.
Did anyone watch the Denver/Georgetown mauling?

Anytime you watch Denver at this point, you're in for a heck of a show.

Such a monster.
I love watching his teams play.

Half way correct. It's more of kids whos parents won't let them play contact sports or kids who don't have the physical traits it takes to play college Bball or Football and couldn't hit it catch in baseball. It's a great sport though and , like I said , an outlet for guys/girls that don't hold the talent or body for other sports.

Lol no it isn't. You have no clue.

The small mindedness on this entire Message Board of TD astounds me.

LOL
You have no clue what you're talking about in your comparison of the two.
Men's soccer is 9.5 schollys and no gear like sticks, helmets and pads.
