Holy shite I just googled and Louisiana actually has the highest income tax rebate in the country for electric car buyers.
Depending on battery choice, an LA buyer can get from 6,900 to $9,500 in state income tax rebates.

Where does a LA buyer go to buy a Tesla? No dealers in LA, AR, MS, and Texas only has galleries which can't sell you a car or allow you to test drive it. So I guess you can drive to Houston to look at the car then go home and order it on the internet? I'd like to order my next car online but I'd want a test drive first.

I thought the state was broke, and how much sense does it make to subsidize people to go electric when your economy is based on oil?

I was able to put my deposit down in Houston. They will open a service center in New Orleans whenever the legislature gets some of these silly laws out of the way.

Louisiana tax rebates and credits along with any fed credits left by the time you buy will push this car into the mid 20,000 range using the base model's cost. You can add an expanded battery and still be under $30K.
Those of you who have added solar arrays in Louisiana over the past decade need to seriously consider this car. Your cost of ownership will be incredibly low. You'll save on insurance, have built in tech upgrades that will almost assuredly include options for autonomous driving, and the drastic reduction of fuel costs will make this something you can conceivably use to great economic benefit.

The plan is for all the Uber drivers to buy one to drive all the Hollywooders around. The goal is profit.
