Heard today on 104.9 that the Saints had 65 million in cap space for next year, also with Ingram, Jordan, and Morestead all restructuring the Saints have almost 6 million to sign their draft class. Basically that the Saints do not need to extend Brees unless they wanted to go after a Greg Hardy, or Terrance Knighton type player.
I thought the Saints were in cap hell for awhile?

Bit the cap bullet a year ago. It is finally digesting.

Armstead and drew will take up a lot of that money

The 65 million figure is also with the current salary cap- it is expected to rise another 10~ or more million next year so realistically we are looking at 75-80 million next year.
We have to assume at least 20-30 will be Brees and 12-16 will be Armstead.
Still leaves us with 40M+
This is why them doing things like what they did with Fairley, Jordan, Morstead, Ingram etc is fine. We have plenty of room.

That's currently. Before we give new deals to guys like Brees, Armstead, Unger. Which right there probably eats up about 40-45 mil. But that said were in excellent shape and should have a ton of spending flexibility.
I would hope they're front loaded with how much space we have next year.
