I think of it like this...when a cyclist gets hit a large percentage of people point to the laws they may have broken...regardless of whether or not it played a part in the accident. A cyclist can get hit in New Orleans and people in Baton Rouge complain about cyclists on River Road.
People hate cyclists because they are an inconvenience, not because they break the law. MOST of the people complaining about cyclists breaking the law break the same laws when behind the wheel but because cyclist are an inconvenience, they complain,...even if they are an inconvenience for less than a minutes.
Legally, you can't operate a golf cart while intoxicated but thousands of people do it on golf courses every day and nobody gives a shite. If someone was to drive on to a golf course with a monster truck and start running over golfers and carts, nobody would say shite about the laws that were being broken by the drunk golfers. Why, because they are not an inconvenience.
Hiding behind laws that cyclists break is weak.

Wasn't the cyclist killed by a drunk driver on perkins impaired?
