I love the shot at the end of 2 that shows them all gathering around the dinner table. Very touching scene.

I prefer Part I.
I wouldn't mind going to a little Italian restaurant for dinner tonight.

As great as 2 is, I am partial to the first one....just barely though.

1
1 is a 10/10 movie
2 is a 9.9/10 movie

When he is at the hospital and prevents the hit on Vito and he says at his bed side "I with you now pop", gets me every time.
That entire hospital scene is tense as hell and fantastic.
When he has the flower guy acting like a gangster and his hands are shaking holding the cigarette .
That scene is intense.

I prefer 1. I've seen it many more times and recall more iconic scenes and quotes from it. But 2 is fantastic. I want to go back and watch it now.

Incredible scene.
I wish Sonny had more screen time in the saga.
James Caan is great.

We should all watch both and have a thread where we critique them.

Sounds good. One of the movie channels has been showing the Godfather Saga a bit lately and that is the first two films back to back.

And it's when Michael learns who he truly is. His hand doesn't shake one bit.
I love 2 but 1 is superior in my eyes.

Godfather 1, because of Apolonia's boobs.
(Before you get on me for her being underage, I was 11 when I saw it in the theaters.)

1 by a mile, but 2 is great. 1 is just greater because it establishes the Family and most of the main players.

My first boobs. I was shocked to find out that there were any other kind.

First boobs are a magical time in a young boy's life.

I prefer 1, but I think the best scene in the series is the final scene in part 2.

The Michael Corleone storyline is my favorite part of both films. How he transforms from the golden boy military vet to a ruthless Don is great stuff. Both are fantastic and two of my favorite films of all time.

Watched 1, for the first time ever, about 4 weeks ago. Damn that movie was great. Anyone else think Duvall stole the show? He was by far my favorite character, and went from one of my favorite actors to maybe my favorite.
