A Primer on Rumors

This should be obvious to anyone that lives in Baton Rouge or Lived there for any period of extended time

(1)Baton Rouge Lives and breathes Football and LSU Sports. For a City of its size there are no sadly no other outlets of entertainment or Cultural fun

(2) LSU is a Political town which should be obvious

(3)Besides La State Govt the Biggest employer is LSU. LSU University politics makes what happens in the Capitol look like a well cared for garden compared to that jungle of intrigue

Where does this all means. POlitcs is everything. THe above three points I have laid out point to one thing. KNOWLEDGE IS NOT ONLY POWER but a HUGE VANITY ITEM. In fact knowing or at least pretending to know "info" is critical to success in many areas of Baton Rouge. This is one reason why rumors are so rampant. Most don't know anything but everyone must Pretend to know something. It is Pride and Business. I just got through meeting with a Rep of a special interest group. For 20 minutes he told the group I was with all the "inside scoop". He was connected he knew people that were "big boosters". It was in the end all Crap. BUt every one was hanging on his every word much more than the reason he was speaking to us. No one will remember much of the meeting subject matter. But they will remember Lobbyist "x" and how he gave us the scoop. This is repeated a thousand times in Baton Rouge. If you are important in Baton Rouge YOU SHOULD KNOW what is going on or at least that what people think

THe ethos of Baton Rouge combine to create a Perfect storm.

Combine this with the internet version of "telephone" and it produces reams and reams of garbage
