TV doesn't count. Internet would. But I'm not even getting to all that. Think of history and times before all this technology. There were plenty of times where people had to go more than a week without seeing people. It's impractical to think they were all cracking. A week is hardly any travel time if you are walking or riding a horse for example. A lot depends on an individual's personality, but a week really isn't much time. It's when you are looking at a few months alone that I'm guessing mental health becomes an issue.

Oh I disagree. It provides you outside perspective to contemplate with. It may be one way, but its still a form of social interaction. The television is trying to make you feel a certain way. It's also trying to get you to watch and get ratings and cash from you.

That would keep you more sane for longer. My situation puts you on an abandoned Island that would have food to keep you nourished and nothing else.

I agree with you 100% here. Our ancestors could have taken isolation for a much longer period of time than we could. I don't think you have experienced much time at all in the same isolation. Unless you like camping alone, I doubt you've gone more than a few hours without it (save sleep of course).

Our minds are now wired in a different way than our ancestors were because of this. I think our personalities are now directly intertwined to being connected to other people. This wasn't the case for many people before ideas spread rapidly. Once they did and you connect yourself to these spreading ideas of others, then if you can't interact with them, it will feel like your soul has been torn apart. Their souls were already whole without this though.
