3 reasons SOS would be interested in LSU

1- LSU has money, facilities, players,and fans. USC fans are a joke.
2-South Carolina is not a recruiting hotbed, Louisiana is. With the players LSU has for next year, SOS goes to the SECCG and competes for NC as long as he is here

Not true. The Carolinas are a hotbed for talent.
This year in SCAR - 2 5*, 8 4*
This year in LA - 0 5*, 9 4*
While LA is typically better head to head, a lot of talent comes out of North Carolina to South Carolina schools.
It isn't like the LA/MS/AL hotbed, but it isn't bad at all.

As far as talent goes, you're forgetting that South Carolina does not have that talent all to itself. Clemson is there, and the surrounding states have traditionally done very well in SC, unlike those trying to take players out of Louisiana (when LSU has a good coach).

Three reasons to think he'll stay where he is:
1) Lack of pressure to win and win every year at S.C. It seemed that the Gamecock boosters and fans ere happy to hear him say they could compete for the division this year. If he had a couple of years at LSU like he has had at SC, would the fans be ok with that?
2) Columbia is close to his hometown in east Tennessee. I dont know how much family he has left in his old hometown, but if there are any he could get there quicker from Columbia than Baton Rouge.
3) Golf. Spurrier is well known for his love of the game. Rumor was that the head coach at USC got a membership to Augusta National. I don't know if that is true, but even if not, as close as the two places are, all Spurrier has to do is make it known he wants to go play a round at ANGC and someone will invite him along as a guest.

I'm not saying that SOS is looking to go to LSU, and your reasons for him staying are all valid. But there is one reason for him to go that may well trump all those other reasons: EGO. At what point does SOS get frustrated with the lack of resources and tools necessary to really win? You cite lack of pressure as a reason to stay, but his will to win is likely a greater factor. IF he thinks he can still win big at USC, then he porobably won't go anywhere.

I'm not forgetting anything. He's original comment was that South Carolina (the state) isn't a recruiting hotbed like Louisiana is, which simply isn't true.

1. As of right now, Spurrier is not a member of Augusta. Hootie Johnson is a former letterman at USC and still live in Columbia. He usually goes down with him.
2. Spurrier has had extreme success recruiting SC, NC, GA and FLA. While SC is a small state, he took the top talent out of NC last year due to the coaching turmoil at NCState and UNC. Further, his name is gold. He still demands rockstar attention when he steps into a school, regardless of where it is.
3. Spurrier isn't leaving USC. No one in Gamecock Country is worried about this and no one is really talking about it. (Me, I like LSU, and am interested in what's going on down in BR.)
He said yesterday that he didn't recruit all that talent last year to leave them for some other coach. Plus, he's all about doing something that's never been done. Achieving success at the national level is nothing new at LSU. He'd just be another link to the chain. At USC he would be the first. He's already made his millions. His brother can drives down from Johnson City for every Carolina home game, his son, Scottie Spurrier is a student at USC and plays on the team. He's set. Plus, the guy is feared. While everyone hates the way the season ended, everyone is scared to question him. His credibility is currently untouchable in Gamecock Nation.

As for us being a joke.....I hate to hear you think that. Please travel to Columbia next year and see how much of a joke we really are. I think you'll find we're some of the better fans in the SEC.

Personally, I don't think Spurrier is the right fit for LSU at this time. I would have been all over the idea 10 year ago though...

How about we exaggerate a little, SG? Back in those days, there were 82,000 seats in Tiger Stadium, right? So you really believe that only 37,000 people were on hand? 60,000+, every time.
