I have had the same honey oak cabinets for 23 years. I want to paint them a cream color and antique them. I have a brick floor and I need new counter tops. I'm thinking of chalk paint since I wouldn't have to sand and strip. I'm scared to start though.

Yes my dad did chalk paint on his, I like the look but it sounds like work- and upkeep. Also my door style I don't think goes with chalk paint. Love the look though.

I can't stand painted cabinets. Something about it cheapens it to me. Might as well buy some pine and paint them.
Not saying you can't update the look, but painting over a quality wood cabinet irks me. Like putting linoleum over hard wood floors. The painting/antiquing feels very "fad"-ish to me, but it is very popular.
