Can I Get a Recommendation On a Point and Shoot Camera

Looking for a pocket sized P&S. I dont need a ton of optical zoom. Need one with a good Auto setting, good focus and fast shooting. I'd like to fit into my pocket, but does not need to be extremely small. I dont really care for any other features like touch screen, wifi, etc..., if it has them great, if not, I dont care.
Budget is around $400 or less

Prices may be a little above your budget but they are both great cameras.
Fuji X100 - small, but not pocketable
Sony RX100 - pocketable, but may be a little more expensive. Now on gen. 3, so the original has come down in price
ETA
Forget the Fuji. It's not known for its fast focus, in fact the opposite. But image quality is great.

Take a look into mirrorless cameras. Newer technology that delivers close to DSLR quality but in a much smaller camera.
Some good ones in your range:

ergonomics, low light, and zoom are all lacking in comparison. overall picture quality and focus are okay, but a quality P&S will be much better

I have a D610 DSLR for when I need something a little more stout. This will be for my, "I dont want to carry a bag or shoulder strap camera"

I hike/backpack a bunch, a camera like the Canon Powershot (which I currently have) that is light and will fit in my pocket exactly meets those requirements.
Since I sometimes go on multiday trips I also pack extra batteries. You can get Chinese knockoffs online dirt cheap. An official battery from Canon costs $30 or so last time I looked, but I was able to get 5 batteries for $10 on eBay from some random company in China and they've worked just fine for over a year now.

THe Sony RX100 is what I was going to recommend. That thing is a beast for a P&S.

RX100 is the correct answer

Another vote for Sony RX100. I bought the 3rd gen model and it's fantastic. Takes great pictures/video and fits easy in pocket. I usually keep it in my car's glove box so it's always on hand.

x100s if you want to really play around.
Cannon s120 if you are looking for pocket
Can't go wrong with Sony either
I have an x100s an and old canon s100. Both are great.

x100s definitely outside of 400 bucks and too big. Great camera though, I have the t.
