For those experts who lament that he should've gone to a high-profile BBall factory like Duke, watching this first round game makes clear to me that:

His unique skills would've been suppressed by unselfish team concept.

His stats would've suffered greatly by wealth of talent (Ingram, Allen) with whom he would have to share ball, minutes, and spotlight

His passive nature would've stood out in contrast to Ingrams desire, hunger, and tenacity.

In short Ben ultimately made a good business decision coming here

Coach K would have got the most out of him

and what is this nonsense? his passing would have only been even more on display at Duke

Johnny Jones is not the same as coach K

He would have excelled at Duke. He would have been coached up much more and be surrounded by arguably better players.

I completely agree.

LSU fans who watched the games saw this. Honestly, some of our best overall games this season were when Ben was in foul trouble.

He came to LSU and got to be the centerpeice, play "Point Forward"

He would have never been allowed to do this at Duke or Kentucky, etc.

Sigh.

Would he have averaged 20 and 12? Probably not. But 18 and 8 with 2-3 more assists is still pretty elite. If he were at Duke, Duke would be a 1-seed

I just assume everyone in the "Simmons is overrated and sucks" camp are the same ones that said LF was overrated after his freshman year

You guys are going to be amazed with how good Ben will be in the NBA very soon. A lot of times this year he dished to open guys that missed open shots or didn't catch the pass. In the NBA those are assist more than not. Most wing players can hit a wide open shot anywhere on the court and the bigs can catch and dunk. The game is more wide open you can't sag as much and you can't keep a big in the paint to just wait. He needs to improve his shot and his defense. The two things that take the longest for young players to learn and develop. His game is more suited for the NBA and with a better coach and players that aren't going to pout because they don't get enough attention.

So you think he would've been showcased with all the talent surrounding him. Ingram is showing us today why He will be the #1 pick.

Benny would've been one more cog in the wheel

Do you think Ingram would have done the same at LSU?

Showcased? He would have at least been used properly. His stats may not have been quite as good but Duke would be A LOT better and he would better be able to get comfortable within a role because Duke... Ya know... Has a coach.

It's a drug man. I get fed up and will be like alright I'm done and I get away for a week or two or maybe a month but I end up right back. I hate it but I just can't stop it.

Exactly what I was thinking. Under Coach K, he's probably player of the year.
