I watched this movie after hearing good things about it for years; it is a great movie with really good performances from Richard Gere and Ed Norton. It seems strange to me that this movie isn't talked about more.
The movie was dark, suspenseful, had snappy dialogue and holds up just as well today as when it was released 20 years ago. The chemistry between the cast is rock solid. Some of the cinematography is kind of corny and dated, but in that same vein, some of it is perfect, especially pretty much any shot with Norton's character.
Does anyone else think Ed Norton should have won Best Supporting Actor over Cuba Gooding Jr that year at the Academy Awards? I felt chills running down my back whenever he would "break" into one of his episodes and the twist at the end, while not totally unpredictable, left me satisfied.

It is definitely one of my favorite movies with a twist ending. Some other movies try that and it just doesn't work, but Primal Fear executed it to perfection. And Norton's performance was amazing. I would have no problem had he won the award that year.

It's a toss up. Cuba's performance was pretty fearless as well, and quite good. I think he deserved. That doesn't mean Ed didn't.
Primal Fear is a good movie, well made, and has a couple of nice twists.
