Why? He gets way overpaid for a cushy job with a lot of perks and can hide behind his computer desk press release emails

Overpaid possibly so but isn't everybody in major college athletics overpaid at this point. To say that the AD job at LSU or any major program is cushy is laughable. It is the most thankless job in the world. Teams do good the coaches get credit and it stops there. Teams do bad and the coaches and the AD get blamed. No one ever talks about the good Alleva has done just what he has done wrong. The athletic department has more money than it ever had and yes I know the SEC network and tv deals is why, but every other SEC team has that deal and how many of them give back to their university?

He has upgraded non revenue sports facilities up to the point where they can compete at a high level. He went out and got the donations to make the outside renovations to Tiger Stadium and Tiger Stadium looks great with the new windows and the front with the plaques of all Americans and championships. He hired Beth Torina, which is a homerun hire, after the coach at Alabama, which was a homerun hire as well, decided to change his mind. I don't blame Alleva for a coach being dishonest.

The handling of Les I don't think was Alleva's fault. I think he wanted to get Jimbo and I think he had him but the president stepped in with the political bs. I can't defend him for Johnny Jones. The hire was probably pushed on him and they probably didn't have many options with the state of the program at that time but it is time to cut your losses and if he doesn't then he gets blame for that. Trent Johnson and Nikki Caldwell were considered great hires at the time they were hired.

Overpaid? He gets about $750,000. That doesn't seem overpaid to me - not for a job like that.

Also, to the knucklehead who suggested Nick Saban might want the job - Nick is making over $7 million. He doesn't impress me as the kind of guy who would take a 90% pay cut.
