Repairman taking his sweet time - wwtotd

Here's the situation:
I rent a house in Midcity and we had some rain/roof damage a few months ago. The roof was replaced almost immediately, and now it is time to have the hallway ceiling redone (there was water/leaking damage). The repairman showed up at the house on February 29 to look at the hallway and see what he would need to fix it... Then says, I'll be back tomorrow - do you want to just give me a house key? (I am a female, and I live with my brother) I told him no, but he could come back at 8am the next day and one of us would be there.
March 1 (Tuesday) rolls around, he gets some stuff done and around 10:30a I told him I had to head out to work - he said he needed to run by the hardware store to pick something up, would I leave him a key? frick it.. Okay. (My brother is usually home for lunch so I knew he would be around the house) I told him to put the key in the mail slot upon leaving. I come home from work around 6 and there's no key in the mail slot - whatever, I assume he will give me a call before he comes back, but I can admit that I was still feeling very weird about him having the key, not knowing when he would show up. By the end of the week, I hadn't heard from him - so I called him and he said he would return on Monday. He doesn't show up Monday, but knocks on the door without calling Tuesday morning (March 8) does 1 hour of work and disappears, and also lets me know that he couldn't find my house key, it must be in his other truck.
That was last week ... Now here we are Monday and he hasn't called or communicated anything with me about coming back or finishing the project.
So I'm laying on my couch around 9 this morning and I hear a half-knock on the door, followed by the door unlocking and opening. I sorta jump up and gave repairman a wacky "wtf do you think you are doing" look. As he's casually waltzing in my house he's like "you good?" I said yeah sure I mean you're already inside. Then he ends the grand entrance with "must be nice to sleep on the couch all day"
So here I am, still laying on the couch, wondering how much hell I should give this guy when he leaves. Should I leave alone, assuming he's too redneck to notice my subtle bitchiness? How would you handle the situation?
Sidenote: after the first day he was here, I saw him the next day at the neighbors house pulling up their fence for them - and that's where he spent the next couple of days working. Is it normal for repair people to not complete a job before going to start a new one?

I'd sue his dick in the dirt

sounds like he's the alpha male in ya'lls relationship.

Is it still a relationship if he never calls?

Why haven't you talked to the landlord?

First, I would demand he give you the key back right now.
Second, let the landlord deal with finding a different repairman.

Standard hand behavior. I enjoy stories like these.

You've got quite a bit going on here. Most importantly:
I would never do this. In fact, if anyone does work in my home I or someone I really trust need to be present.

Yes the do it all the time. Pretty much you will have to tell him, look I need to get this done. And give him a completion date

If so he doesn't answer to you... He answers to the landlord. Unless you're paying him (not advisable as a tenant).

But, after him letting himself into my house this AM, I will call the landlord today and tell her the situation and ask that he not come back. I'm thankful that I was in appropriate clothing, and that my 38 special wasn't at my fingertips

He sounds creepy as frick. Re-key your lock, pay him for what he's done, and tell him to GTFO.

What are her damages to justify a suit? Emotional stress? I hate people that think the first thing they need to do is sue.
I would call the landlord and complain about the guy and make sure to get my key and let the repair guy know what a dick he is but bring this to a lawsuit?

Originally, it was just so he could lock up and leave. I never would've let him have the key had I thought he was going to take it with him.
I will most definitely be getting the key back from him today before he leaves.

Eye roll yourself. Like I said, I am a female alone in my house and a man I don't know lets himself in. I would hope you would want your wife or daughter to feel protected as well.
Not saying I would've shot the guy.

Not to make you paranoid, but what if something goes missing in your place one month from now?

Did you hire him or did your landlord hire him?

Not sure this guy is smart enough to get an extra key made - and can't say I have too many valuables in the house. And to be honest, I may not even notice. Lol, I hope that doesn't happen though
