Toledo bend fishing report for the great flood of 2016.

Outdoor furniture, flower beds, and yard crafts really seemed to produce. For example, this picnic table and the accompanying electrical outlet was a solid producer.

Pops whooped me in the weight department. I had the quantity, he definitely had the quality.

I did have a few nice ones though.

They are biting.

It's funny that guy posted that about the spinner bait. I threw soft plastics all morning with very few bites. Caught 5 solid ones on a spinnerbait this afternoon.

Eta: That's how it goes though.

Good to know. My buddy told me a little while ago his friend has had a spinner bait bite for a few days.
His other friend fished Lanans and didn't catch any.

Lake is back down to 171.6 as of this morning,
the few pics I have seen the water is like chocolate milk.
Some nice ones still being caught after all the rain though, heading out there for a week at the end of the month, hopefully we will hit is just right. Maybe the water will clear up some by then.

I'm bringing my AP1's to play the Cypress Bend course before hitting those coves with a Senko in the afternoon.

I'll be back Fri-Sunday.

I'm watching the weather Friday, that may turn into a beer drinking day with the rain.

Rain with no lightning is one of my favorite times to fish.

It wasn't for a lack of effort. I think we had two or three tied on at all times. I swear I saw at least 30 guys throwing them in other boats though so somebody had catch something with one

Late Saturday and all day Sunday the entire water from main lake to the back of San Miguel and Lanan was chocolate milk. We still caught fish. Don't be afraid of the dirty water.

By far, we did our best fishing either in, or just before or after storms when it was cloudy and/or raining. The sun really seemed to slow the bite down.

Caught 80% or better of our bass last vacation in the rain.

First 4 days were bluebird. We averaged 10-15 keepers a day.
Next 2 rainy days we averaged 70- 80 fish a day. Most were keepers. A lot of catch and release.
Last day blue bird. 7 keepers.
Low pressure has everything to do with fish biting on almost any bait.

We were suppose to leave Thursday night but may try to get there early afternoon and fish into the night.

On a side note we turned over the boat and I lost all my guns and ammo....just the luck.

I think the clouds makes the fish roam around more, especially this time of year, and that makes them more susceptible to a wide variety of baits. Almost every day that I'v been able to fish this year has been bluebird, and we've caught 80% of our fish flipping bushes.

The sun makes them hunker down in the shady areas in the roots and under the base of the bushes, under grass mats, docks, etc. I believe that's why I've done so well flipping. It looks like it'll be sunny and post-frontal by the time I get there.
