Just came from the 7 o clock showing and My goodness, what a fantastic movie. Honestly, the plot just keeps throwing you for loops. I mean, wow.

***********Spoilers below********

So if you mistakenly clicked on this thread, back out now!!

So it was obviously an alien attack. That much is a given.

But let's work our way from the beginning. At first, you think that maybe this is just a crazy old guy who has just kidnapped this girl. The scene were she gets the gas sets a creepy mood for this to happen. After she talks to Emmit however, you get the feeling that maybe something did happen(if you don't know anything about Louisiana). With myself being from Louisiana, and from them saying about 40 miles North of Lake Charles, i started to once again think that he just abducted her, and that the flash that Emmitt saw was a plant explosion, but then again, those not familiar with Louisiana would have no idea about the many plants located there.

But then again, once the woman comes up to the air lock door, i once again switched up and said man, maybe this was some sort of attack, but then again it could have been a chemical plant explosion.

When they found the earring and message on the inside and Emmit reveals that "Megan" wasn't Rogers daughter, I was like, "holy frick, this is just a kidnapping movie"

The scene were he finds the razors and Emmit makes up the story about trying to take the weapon, and he blows Emmit brains out had me convinced that it was just a kidnapping movie, and that Howard just wanted another victim.

When she escapes and the birds are flying and she takes off the mask, I was like holy shite, there might have been something, but obviously nothing chemical of the bird and crickets are chirping. Then that's when she hears the helicopter, the alien helicopter, and the explosion from the bunker leads the aliens to her. What an intense few scenes that was. I was literally on the edge of my seat.

Overall, what a fantastic movie and I hope it gets a true sequel. If the tumors are true, and i think they are, that it was pieced together from a failed film, then to JJ Abrams, cause he took shite and made a 5 course gourmet dinner out of it.

I personally give it a 4.6/5 stars overall.

Very intense. Loved it. Thought the ending was pretty weak though.

The scene where he shoots Emmit had everyone at my showing like "Holy frick!!"

Said that to myself for a handful of scenes. Very powerful movie. I feel like it lost a bit of that after she got out.

ETA: I kind of wish it had ended when she took the mask off and heard the wildlife.

Of course the one thing Howard decided not to lock or guard properly was the GIANT 55 GALLON DRUM FULL OF ACID.

Also, I really wanted to know what was in the door behind his clothes in his bedroom. I thought that was going to play into the plot somehow but it never did.

Trying to go tomorrow. Had to skip that first post. Haven't been this excited about a movie in a while.

I just saw it for 6 dollars in downtown Chicago. People who claim about movies being too expensive can be obnoxious.

Anyway, the ending did feel a little rushed but it was a great movie.

I can't believe she decided to go to Houston. I thought it was obviously a trick.

Solid movie. Was a little unnerving. Had me pinned back in the seat at one time.

I think u will either love it or hate it. Due to the claustrophobic setting...

Can someone rephrase what the OP said without rambling? How is this connected to Cloverfield?

I couldn't make out what it was saying there at the very end. I heard the part about Baton Rouge and if anyone had any medical or combat experience, but what was said about Houston?

So, I'm assuming there will be more of these movies and eventually they'll connect the Cloverfield mythology?

I thought the movie was really good. John Goodman was fantastic as always. Honestly, his performance was Oscar worthy, IMO. I doubt he'll be nominated for this, but I noticed you big dog!

You see, I didnt hear anything about Baton Rouge. All I heard was go to Houston if you are military or medical because they've taken back the southern seaboard.

Pass. I fell for that marketing scam once with Prometheus being an Alien film. Misleading marketing, JJ. He probably felt no one would see it if called Cellar so he tried to grab fans of the previous film under false pretenses. He did something similar when he had trouble selling Super 8 so he combined the script with a monster film to draw more eyes.

No, it's definitely part of the Cloverfield universe, whether it is a direct sequel or prequel or not, is up for discussion.

Did you play along with the Augmented Reality Game with Cloverfiele? If you did, do you remember Tagraurto, Slusho, Bold Futura! ? If so, great, follow along with the ARG for 10 Cloverfield Lane. If not, that's cool, as you don't need to have played to understand the movie. Just know this, 10 Cloverfield Lane is incredible and John Goodman should win an Oscar for his performance and this should be an academy award winning film.

My only beef was the lightning at the end showing floating monsters all over the place. No way she would actually make it to Houston at night with headlights on.

I liked her finally nutting up and heading to Houston then we see she has just about zero chance of making it with those monsters all over the place. Could be wrong but it sure seemed like there were tons of baddies all the way to Houston and those headlights at night would bring them right to her.

Fun movie. Lots of tension.

It felt like a great mystery/thriller movie with a Cloverfield 2 teaser at the end.

Anyone notice Bradley Cooper was credited as the voice of her boyfriend. I wonder if he's gonna be part of the next one

so this is just a retelling of Katrina but with a more sympathetic refugee and aliens instead of Republicans
