. But a decision has to be made in less than a second when a car is coming at you that fast. You don't have the luxury of hindsight.

I know all about split second decisions. My comment was that he didn't try to run over anyone or avoid the roadblock and instead swerved to avoid hitting the people and cars blocking the road.

The shoot or don't shoot is a tough one. I feel I have enough first hand experience that I can say the shooting while understandable, may have been a little too quick. This is based on hindsight and only my personal opinion

That's not totally unfair. Again, looking at it today and when the copter video was released, it looks like he was avoiding a collision and I don't think he saw that person off to the left. We agree there. But I can't honestly say it was wrong or that I would do anything differently than the cops firing when that's what I've been trained to do in that situation. Less than a second to decide if this guy fleeing is coming at me or going to avoid me. Do I want to do something that could stop him and save my life or take a chance that he will swerve to avoid me?

Not to argue, but looks like he did just about run a guy over at that roadblock.
Now the guy kinda ran out in front of the truck, but still he didn't look like he was slowing down.

Voice of experience and reason.

The shots fired immediately may have been quick and could have altered the outcome of the situation. No one knows how it would have ended without those first two shots fired.
