I think he may have a point Josh, the ending of this season may change a lot. History (peoples perception) will change alot in few years or sooner. He was only talking about what people will think of CLM later down the road.

and that's a shame, bc he won alot of games while here, and was a great guy. While I like him as a coach, and want him here, I think now is the time for him to go, bc no matter what, he'll get ridiculed to no end next year if we lose a couple games and prob fired the next for losing 3 games or so. Plus, I guess we would give a new coach a little time to supposedly "fix" the things we have problems with.

so, just bc we lost the last game, (basically you could look at a couple plays, had they gone the other way, we would've won)you think miles is the reason, he didn't prepare enough? You are a joke man, real joke.
take off the purple and gold glasses for a second ... if you are going to tell me for one fricking second that if in the back of your mind you know that your head coach is strongly considering leaving you after the SEC championship game during what may be the most glorious season of your life that you wouldn't be preoccupied ??? you want to talk about jokes ?? your disneyland fantasy is a joke ..

I may be wrong, but I think this is exactly the opposite of what people think is going on. Michigan just started looking for its next head coach. Even Miles agent says he has not been contacted at any time by Mich. So all this back door, done deal talk seems to lack any real evidence.
Is there another suitor for Miles right now? Not that I am aware of. So Mich has no need to rush this with him, if he is their choice. But is he?
The only interviews given thus far were to English and Deboard. Those were courtesty interviews and likely to say why the would not get the job and to let them know that Mich would not block any school from talking with them should they be contacted (likely for English, not so likely for Deboard).
Coming so soon in the search process, one Martin has said he hopes to complete by the end of Dec., could mean that Mich is going to give Miles his due and talk with him, but that will be that. He is not likely to be the next coach.
Martin has always, always followed through, and he said that this search was going to go on "underground." This doesn't look too underground to me, which is why it may be a courtesy interview.
Blame Mich for no NC in BR this year if you must, but Mich did not put Miles name in the hat, LSU did not put his name in the hat, even Miles nor his agent ever put his name in the hat. The media did and got what they wanted... frenzied fans, lots of talk and speculation, controversy. Good news stories, good ratings. They win!

when miles is standing in front of a podium on monday with a bunch of M's in the background crying about the wonderful dream he has just realized i'd love to hear your opinion as to whether or not it was a done deal ..

yes they do need to rush .. it's called recruiting ...

and why is his fricking buy out so (inappropriate language deleted) low ??
Well it's likely to go lower. There is much discussion about reducing or eliminating the buyout all together to make it even easier for UM to take him.
I'm believing the rumormill that this will be a mutual split. Admin wants him gone.
They obviously believe, and I agree, that his UM aspirations did derail this season. i.e. He and Bo threw away the MNC.

i think LSU should pay for his move to get his arse the heck out of town ... pelini did a horrible coaching job in the second half of the season and will be a flop as an HC ...
ETA: and these UM aspirations started as soon as the clock hit 0:00 in the big house in the season opener ...

OK, they are all liars. They say they have not spoken, but that is all just subtrafuge. They have been plotting for months to do this.
How Miles feels about Michigan is not a secret. His reaction when asked was genuine. But being emotional and wanting the job are not on the criteria list. In fact, I would say his reaction would be a concern to Mich, its alums and the administration. Bo was tough with the media, Carr was taciturn and cerebral, they both got steamed at times, but never broke down. Miles' reaction/response would be cause to pause in Ann Arbor.
You may be right, but what if I am right. Then what?

Our defense has been horrible the last few games, and our offense has had no real continuity this season, considering all the talent we're supposed to have. Also where is all the depth on this team that I keep hearing about? And it seems more of our guys have been laying on the field injured, more so than our opponent. Is that just a coincidence, or has Les worn our guys out with his day before the game hard hitting practices?..... R-Kansas, how freaking goofy was that?

specs -- my point is that saban was oozing with job offers during the 2003 season .. but wisely brushed them aside and made sure that it would be ZERO distraction .. i think nick, unlike les realized/realizes that some really great names in coaching only have one title and that they don't grow on trees ... les miles can walk into a green mile curse, lived to be 130 years old and coach another 80 years and will NEVER have the planets align the way they have this season ... i have been following college football for many a moon and never seen a yellow brick road so well paved as it was this year for miles and LSU .. he did about the only thing he could have to done to throw it in the toilet ... he'll be gone ala ed orgeron in three years at michigan because lloyd's pantry is bare ..

Recruiting class is well established and has been contacted and are staying. There are plenty of visits for the HC still available, Carr has not taken any, and there are just enough scholarships to close the class in Jan. Mich feels that Carr left them in a good position with incoming talent and room for the new guy to put his stamp on it, but they don't have to rush.
Maybe you can answer a question for me though, in other conferences I have heard that more offers are made than there are scholarships, then kids get to school and may not have their scholarship. Is that true at all?
The BT you can only offer what you have and the kid has to relenquish the scholarship before it can be reoffered.

these people .. outside of specs1 and skillet in here .. are absolute fricking idiots if they:
a. think miles is staying
b. think miles hasn't had the michigan job on his radar since september
c. think this had NOTHING to do with our late season collapse

i thought miles was a stupid friggin' hire by bertman when he did it. i watched his oklahoma state teams blow some gigantic leads and lose games -- then he repeated it in 2005 against tennessee ... i also watched him open his stupid arse mouth and give bob stoops bulletin board material and got his arse handed to him in the bedlam game .. a feat he recreated with his "ar-kansas" bullshite ...

ETA: it's kind of hypocritical to be pissed at saban for leaving but not miles if he does. saban knew better than to entertain offers in public at the end of the 2003 season ..
I think more people are pissed at Saban for accepting a job offer from a rival only 2 years after leaving LSU. People aren't pissed at Miles for entertaining leaving, but I think people would be really pissed at Miles for accepting the head coaching job at Arkansas in December of 2009.
