I drive from Hammond to br daily. Leave house at 5 in br by 545, that includes stopping in Livingston. Leave br at 345 (getting on at Acadian or Washington st) and home by 430 or 445.

years before the i 12 expansion, i worked with a guy who did this. his wife's job was in Covington. he would get to the office at 7 am and leave at 4 to avoid the traffic. he lasted i think under a year.

I'm sure the commute from the west of BR is terrible too
I did BR to Lafayette with occasional stayovers on either end.
What was brutal was coming back over the MRB at rush hour on Friday evenings.

Well at least you can get off I-12 at Sherwood and drive that way instead of having to go all the way into town.
Often heard lines from the daily traffic report: "Stalled vehicle on the Mississippi River bridge, traffic is backed up all the way to the 10-12 split." But also: "I-12 is slow-going from Juban to approaching Airline."

This.
I make the drive pretty regularly from Hammond to Baton Rouge, but I'm also making it at 1-3am.

Depends on where you're going in BR, 45 minutes to an hour. A little shorter when school is out.

When I went to school I used to have to make the trip to go home. It's not that bad. If you're a lead foot in the left lane. If not its gonna be closer to an hour and 20-30 minutes.

May the Lord have mercy on your soul.
That sounds like a sentence not a strategy.

You can do it.
Make that drive your bitch.
Make that drive your bitch.

It's still going to take at least 1.5 hours each way. Sherwood Forest from I-10 to I-12 is heavily traveled.
Travelwise, I think living in BTR and working in Covington is better than living in Covington and trying to get to work in BTR.

If you leave after 6 am on I-12, you're fricked five out of every five days. Going into BR on from out there 12 is one of the worst, if not the worst, commutes in all of Louisiana, especially from Livingston to BR. Going back is easier, but still bad.

I did Mandeville to BR commute every day for about a year and man did it suck. This was in 2008, and I doubt there's been much improvement. Downtown to Denham is just disgusting.

Please don't do this. This sounds horrible.

True and it even seems BR is proud of that distinction

I must lead a charmed life. I leave Covington (HWY 21) at 6:45 and get to BR in 45 minutes to an hour and that's going to an office on Bluebonnet across Perkins Rd. Yeah, some days it may take longer but not most of the time it's 45 minutes to an hour.

I used to make the trip a lot and still do every other week. You have a very short window around 3 to get out of br or you are stuck. Mornings never seem as bad as long as you get up early. And you still got to worry about getting off in Covington and deal with whatever construction they have going on.

I would say it used to be like this, but no way in hell you are making from bluebonnet to 21 in an hour in the afternoons.

I can tell you not to do it.
