We're at the state park cabins now. Took us 6 hours to get here from Monroe.
Roads closed everywhere across NWLA.
Planning on fishing shallow in the morning in the creek we're in. If anybody wants to come tell us what we're doing wrong, we'd appreciate it. First timers out here.

Throw dark baits in the bushes

I second what Cadello said. We've been catching them on black/blue and black/red beaver style baits.

Thanks fellas.
Getting ready to launch now. I'll exaggerate our successes and lie about our failures throughout the day.

We look forward to good stories and no pictures then

I have no clue how to post pics on here. I used to send my pics other members and they would post them.
At least I'm sending you pics so you know I'm not laying on the couch making up stories

Dark baits, big motion, big thumping lures to attract attention in the muddy and stained waters. Lot of water fell so find the clearest possible water in the 12ft to 4 ft range. You will find some up in the new water but your gonna have to plant it in there face for the strike, just my past experience. Good luck but most of all BE SAFE AND RESPECTFUL. A bunch of dock and camps have water in them or at them Don't go throwing big wakes and destroying property that people are borderline about to lose. Be mindful that free floating logs and debris are in your known boat lanes, Higher water means bouy lane markers have came un-moored and not in there respective places, There is about zero chance I would run the lake wide open for a week or two. Use common sense the local officials in that area are already spread thin with flooding issues, Last thing they need on thier plate is a rescue or accident on Toledo Bend

High water isn't scaring everybody off the lake. A dozen boats at blue lake this morning.

Louisiana side, Pendleton bridge, moments ago.

What is the clearance under that bridge usually? Looks like it would be tight to get my boat under that.

If I was fishing this weekend that's where I'd be it's right off the main lake and no major creeks coming in. Water probably won't be too bad, and there are plenty of bushes to fish.

There are cables under the bridge that can't be seen in the pic. Normally, when I am standing on the bow of my boat I can barely reach the cable. I am 5'7 so I just assume I would be about 3 ft. above the water.

Toro Creek Flooding
This is the creek directly below the spillway before it hooks back into the Sabine.

I assume that was a drone video? That was pretty badass. Not to take anything away from the devastation.
