I don't really get the AD pick in this. I love the guy but he hasn't played on a semi-decent defense in the league yet.

I mean he's good enough that he can defend any of their bigs halfway decently.
I do agree, yeah he's been on shitty defensive teams, but when your team is playing a lazy Tyreke, knee-less EG, off the street SFs (Gee and Cunningham), and Ryan Anderson who Howard-prime couldn't even mask you have yourself a lot of issues. The three biggest contributors defensively have been injured on and off, but when they were all playing together it was one of the better units in the league.

His versatility, length, quickness and ability to defend the pick and roll and on the perimeter makes him a good selection for this specific task. You have to be able to play small, so a guy like AD gives you options and length.
