Splain me why the guys selling them consider this a bad thing. Our usual place is now saying he's tired of giving them away and is charging extra for it. Some places won't even do it. Why?

Because the weather is is to cold.
Gas prices are to low.
His illegals are working to slow.
Many more possible excuses but these are the the norm.

Because it takes extra time to do it. I don't see anything wrong with selling it for more money if you have to break a sack. This type of thing goes on in all business.
Go to Sam's or Costco and compare prices on like items to walgreens or your small local supermarket.

If I can find a place that would break up a sack consistently i'd probably buy more often. During the week 15lbs for me and 2 others would be perfect.

Biggest reason for me was I got very few request for it so if I did it once I got stuck with the other half.
Seems like it would be easier just to buy them boiled for that few

Castnet Seafood in New Orleans East sells them by the pound, not by the sack. Same price whether you buy 4 pounds or 40 pounds.
They break open every sack they get, walk them (pick out the dead and the trash) and wash them ... THEN they weigh up however many pounds you want and put them in a sack.
They NEVER just flip a sack and re-sell the same one they bought without breaking it down.

Why would you take the time to boil for anything less than a sack? I'm not gonna get all that shite and have all that cleanup for 15-20 lbs

I bought half a sack at heads and tails last week one night after work.
