As long as he understands the game more than Hawthorne, I'm gonna like him.

He's gonna be just fine. I love Jim, but happy with Chris.

Man he's good. I hope we have him a long, long time.

Nice way for him to debut, getting to call a walk-off win for the Tigers.
Here's to many, MANY more!

I'm just happy Charlie is gone.

He's a great professional voice. The only thing that bothered me about the hire is that he doesn't have any LSU ties or fandom.
Kind of evident in that call. He's "excited" for show for his job, not because he's actually an LSU fan. Hopefully that's something that develops over the years.
What made Hawthorne great was his passion for LSU and how genuinely excited he was when something good happened, and how genuinely disappointed he was when something went wrong. It helped you feel like you were there and in the moment.
I guess you take an upgrade in the actual sportscasting part for a downgrade in the emotional connection department.
I wish you the best of luck, Chris. Fine first game call

Yep, this is the one hang up. Hopefully it will come with time.

He sounds very professional. Great job IMO

From Politz to Ferguson to Hawthorne and now Blair ; a lifetime of memories to be shared......

I'm sure he's slowly becoming a fan but doesn't right now and maybe never will bleed purple and gold.

Just because he wasn't Marv Albert at calling a game, doesn't mean he couldn't be great for other reasons. The national media plays his calls all the time. His passion and excitement was great and brought a lot of positive attention to LSU.

Blair is so much better than Hawthorne that it's comical

If Blair's first outing is any indication of what we can expect, I'll sacrifice that "passion" for a much better overall broadcast
Blair gave an interview earlier in the day and was able to discuss this team pretty well because he's been out at practice a good bit studying up, sounded like he really had a finger on the pulse of this team

This. People can say what they want about Hawthorne, and a great deal of it is absolutely correct, but that man's passion was never in doubt and it is a huge reason that so many of his calls had that intangible "greatness" to them. That Warren Morris call. The Blue Grass Miracle call. So many calls where he was just dejected and pissed at a terrible play. It's something you just can't manifest without sincerity. Like you said, hopefully that will come in time with Blair, but it does appear to be missing (which is completely understandable given Blair's newness).
Can we have Blair calling play by play and just have Hawthorne in the booth for the occasional emotional outburst?
