It really is a great place. People are nice. Bar hopping is expensive though. China town was pretty cool. The bus is a cheap way to travel around. You $20 could last the week instead of cab rides.

Thanks for the photos, looks like an incredible place that I hope to visit.

If you look in the distance you'll see dozens of oil tankers waiting their turn to come into the port. Singapore oil/gas is growing faster than it can handle so you arrive with your cargo and can sometimes wait a week until your turn to bring your ship in
i always wondered why there were so many just sitting there...never seen so many in my life in one location.
I know you have more pics, they're just not SFW...it's cool

Neat thing was witnessing the global slowdown first hand in Istanbul summer 2009.
There were tankers and cargo ships just sitting there on the Bosphorus all over the place.
ETA: Here's a lame pic of part of it

Unless your company is paying for the trip, there is never a reason to visit Singapore for pleasure.

Why?
I'm headed there in December as part of a Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo trip.
Ive been to KL and loved it, I'm assuming Singapore will be similar. But with limited vacation time and first class award on Singapore Air, these cities were logistically easiest. Personally I enjoy smaller cities since they tend to preserve the culture better, but my fiancé isn't as adventurous and I wanted to minimize travel time since we only have a few days in each city.
