How bad does Ole Miss suck?

To hire a coach who Arky just fired because he could never win the SEC. They must really be obsessed with "beating LSU" like O said because this hire makes no sense at all - unless you figure they couldn't get anyone else.

Nutt is a major upgrade from "O".
He wasn't fired either, he resigned.

He wasn't fired. He declined an extension from Arkansas.

Won the west last year. Played in the SEC champ game against UT and would have won if not for an untimely fumble by Clint Steorner.
Has done more w/ less than any other coach in SEC, prior to the arrival of DMAC and FJ. Now if you want to argue they underachieved during the DMAC and FJ years, perhaps.
Nevertheless, this is a HUGE, HUGE, HUGE upgrade for Ole Miss. I was in favor of them keeping BABA a few more years. Of course I was in favor of Bama keeping Shula also. This upgrade would be similar to us replacing LM w/ Jimmy Johnson.

OK, he wasn't "fired". Neither was Jeff Bower. He WAS forced to resign though. Talks of Nutt being out at Arky have been going on since last year. Believe me, this wasnt his decision!

Nope. He declined an extension. He might be flawed, but he's a good coach.

If it happens, he's definitely an upgrade from Orgeron.

To pile on what has already been said...Nutt is a major upgrade from O.
Nutt's problem was that, as a Jimmy Sexton client, his name was always on the market (he had his name out there for the Nebraska and LSU openings). This apparent disloyalty to the program shortened his leash tremendously. That said, he did well at Arky and had bought himself the extension offer with the last two wins (he was on the way out had he lost those games, without a doubt). Now, he gets a fresh start with a fan base that has much lower expectations (have you seen the signs for the "championships" they have in their stadium). If he were to bring the same degree of success and competitiveness to Oxford, he'd be the next Johnny Vaught in the minds of those fans.

He turned down 2 mil. per yr. at Ark.
He's going to be our nightmare for years taking some of our Miss. recruits.

He ruined the Tiger's season!

After Arky beat us in last week, they were begging HDN to stay and offered him a lot of cash to go along with it.
True story.

This is not true. That game was a regular season game. Nutt's 2 SECCG's were in 2002 (lost 30-3 to UGA) and 2006 (lost 38-28).

Who the hell in their right mind "fires" their coach after beating #1 on the road?
Best coach you have ever had, congrats on being a "basketball school" again...

People seem to think we have someone already lined up... but we'll see...

I think it's a decent move. I would rather Paul Johnson, but as one poster stated, he gets the most out of teams. Something Ole Miss needs right now

Thats typical of Ole Miss. When was the last time Paul Johnson recruited?

You never knew which Arkansas would show up. They could beat anyone at anytime, or they could just roll over (USC put 60+ on them)... They were always dangerous though. I think with H-Nutt at Ole Miss, he'll make the Rebels instantly better, and Ark will slide into that celler that the Rebs have been in for the last few years. I mean, the fact that a coach consistantly competed in the SEC West, won a few divisional titles, and almost always took his team bowling - well, that shouldn't hurt your potential HC candidates at all...
