How was he holding him back? Miles hired Aranda under Alleva's watch and hired Steele the year before under Allevas watch?

The Chavis contract and the subsequent hiring of Steele was indicative of the administration putting serious restrictions on Miles ability to run the program. After the botched coaching change, they really had no choice but to re-commit to Miles. I don't think it "exposed" anything, but it was a serious error in judgement with respect to how they tried to go about the change.

Horsesh!t. Just the opposite. Hiring Steele was on Les and was the final straw for many. The chat with him after the TAMU game was if you want to stick around, you stick to being the nice recruiting daddy type and Alleva and the Board will handle the big boy business. Les couldn't manage his way out of a wet paper bag.
