I still feel like SFP is telling us you can't be happy with your life if you're not good shape.

And I'd submit she's probably a heck of a lot closer to being in good shape than he thinks.

You coulda done it in 13 if you really wanted, you must hate yourself. That's basically your logic in this thread.

i completely disagree with this mentality

i just don't see happiness in those terms and think any perceived happiness is just a sense of relaxation due to slightly giving up

the crux of this that no one mentions is that we all LOVE to tell other people how they should be experiencing their own lives.

This is how I would think & act if I were in your shoes so that's how you should think & act.

It's the internet and SFP is its first born son. The way he talks about this shouldn't be surprising.

well i have a pretty good idea of what people should be doing in life. now i don't even completely follow that direction so i get that it's not easy, but that's the point. very few good things in life come easy

now, me saying that's how people should live doesn't mean that i mandate it.

however, i reject the opposing philosophy that tries to censor having opinions and being able to voice them (Which is very common in the fat acceptance movement, for example).

those authoritarians do want this mandated and that's the next step and that is scary

You are her right now, today. You're obviously saying you wouldn't post that same message she did, so what would you message be?

I just have no idea of what you're saying she should be doing with her fame in regards to trying to spread a positive message.

internet know-it-allness perfectly described

it's the idea that your opinion means frick all to someone else because A.) you aren't in the same boat they are and B.) you don't even live by the same tenets you're preaching. It's hypocritical and ignorant. The perfect double of internetting.

quote:

those authoritarians do want this mandated and that's the next step and that is scary

on the internet though. I find more and more that in real life, people just want to keep moving along. Sexism, racism and all sorts of shitty things occur but people just seem to brush them off and keep moving to where they want to go. Not in all cases of course.

Has she not risen to a higher level of success in her career than you have?

That's not me being a dick, but that's pointing out she's more successful at what she does than you are at what you do, so do you really have a pretty good idea of what people should be doing in life?

that's a better point

"the do anything you put your mind to" I don't see how that applies to models. You're just being. That's it.

If you were born with a humongous wart covering half your face, you're not getting on the cover. Or even into modeling. So how motivational quote apply to them I'm not sure.
