Not sure it was a conscious choice. something in his head said don't go for the ball. DANGER. DANGER. Kinda like when someone takes a swing at you and you flinch. Doesn't make someone soft or poor character or whatever if they flinch when someone swings at them would it? No of course not. It's the brain making a split second decision wth self preservation In mind. Not a reflection on character obviously.

It isn't dangerous to dive on a loose ball. You are taught that from Pop Warner on. It takes a huge self absorbed puss to unlearn that behavior
