Players have had some sort of "signal" for first down for at least 15 years, it seems. It used to just be pointing like the ref's signal, now it's become a whole new phenomenon thanks to players like Cam who play with a swagger.
I knew they were in trouble last night when he wasn't himself through the entire game. He played the tightest game I've ever seen him play in his pro career. Understandable, but it was hard to watch

Yeah, people take this shite way too seriously.
When you have grown arse men complaining about a bat flip or a touchdown dance, it makes you wonder

People definitely take Pro & College football entirely too seriously.
For the longest time, the NFL was deemed the "No Fun League". What's wrong with players actually having fun with a game?

Hopefully last night is a start but I can't stand the stupidity that is now thought of as cool in the NFL.
"NOW"? Now?
Obviously you haven't heard of Billy Joe " White Shoes" Johnson dancing(Funky Chicken) & doing splits in the end zone back in the 1970's( GOAT Celebration).
Or the Cowboys Butch Johnson "California Quake" & " Texas Two Guns" celebration?
Ickey Shuffle( still popular) which complainers like you got banned in the end zone ?
Redskins " Fun Bunch" ,etc....
I don't see the problem outside of props( cell phones/ sharpies,etc..)

Celebrating makes the game more interesting.
A league full of copycats doing the exact same celebration for months on end does not.

Im sure that the Hurricanes (& ex Hurricanes in the NFL) & players like Michael Irvin were doing this stuff over 30 years ago.

It's a fad that will die off like the Dougie, the Superman, & every other short-lived dance did.
Another will take its place after the DAB. Get used to them, they aren't going anywhere for better or worse.

I know what you mean. I feel slightly behind everyone- I just perfected my Dougie last week.

I saw Jim Nantz dab on Stephen Colbert last night. Kick him out of the booth.

Honestly I was waiting on somebody from the Broncos to throw that shite back in Cam's face.
I dont particularly like when players get carried away with the first down thing. But last night you saw a flag get thrown bc the defense interrupted Sanders' little first down dance.
The worst is fat arse lineman dancing after a sack when there team is down by 20 points. I didn't see that last night, but you see it all the time in the regular season

Pretty much this.
I actually think it's kind of interesting how down the road you'll be able to look back and identify the era in which players played based on their celebrations. Doesn't just apply to today's players, either. Back in the day you could do the same.
The fads just come and go more quickly these days thanks to social networking.
