He was running toward the loose football, he realized he was too close to it when (you can see his lead foot is right next to the ball when he planted it), hopped to his left and dropped into the pile to go after the ball.

If he was afraid why run toward the lose ball to begin with?

We are used to most players hurling themselves towards lose balls and takes but I don't think that is a QB's instinct so I can see why Cam would be more particular about where he dove on the ball.

For the record Im not a Panthers or Cam fan. Just trying to make the right call.
