as long as we have the all-star stable of running backs that we currently have, I don't think we will see much more than a minimal passing game

Which punctuates just how bad the offensive philosophy of what LSU uses is.
You have 2 stud RB's. We know the guys behind them are good but at the end of the day LSU has 2 all star caliber RB's. LSU has an endless amount of All Star caliber WR's on the roster and they are hardly used. It would stand to reason that with all the freaks LSU has on Offense that it would be smartest to put both Guice & Fournette in the backfield and have 3 WR's. Then either Guice or Fournette and then 4 freak athletes. With all that LSU has on the roster talent wise they should predominantly be an 11, 20 and 10 personnel team in regards to offense. If they continue to (and they will) line up in 12,21,32 personnel groups then all that talent is just being wasted and not utilized. The amount of talent that LSU has year in and year out at the Receiver position on it's roster is just an embarrassment of riches and it goes grossly un utilized year after year.

Agreed, and WR's have always been a factor in how high our recruiting rankings are. LSU recruits the exterior as well as anyone, just like Bama the interior. But, we have not had the exterior be the focal point on offense since 2008, outside of 2013. It is a huge reason for not "playing to our potential"...a lot of our potential is an afterthought. I know our WR's have gotten some blame for dropped passes, but I think the argument can be made that LSU's passing game has suffered in the recent past not because they don't trust the QBs, its that they don't trust their WR's. Clearly, its a mixture of both, but it is an interesting point nonetheless that WR involvement has been so scarce, almost to the point of being strictly a safety valve.
