5* Tate Martell vs 3* Lindsay Scott LSU QB Stats?

One kid is a 5* that plays for a team that recruits the best talent from multiple states......and plays against Nevada HS talent.
Scott played for Zachary, which plays against 5A talent in one of the most talented football states in the nation.
Martell is 5'11, 170lbs. Scott is built like a running back at 5'11, 200-210lbs.
Who's the better prospect?
You do the math. Here's the 2015 Stats....
Martell:
173.9 yards per game passing
133 of 237 for a 56.12 completion percentage
32 TD's versus 6 INT's
608 yards rushing. 40.3 yard per game average
Scott:
202 yards per game passing
163 of 255 for a 63.92 completion percentage
33 TD's versus 5 INT's
1963 Rushing yards. 130.9 per game average.
More passing yards per game, better completion percentage, better TD to INT ratio, crap ton more rushing yardage per game (more than 3 times as many).
Okay, so someone please explain to me how Scott was ranked 1042 in his class and Martell is ranked 19th in his.
Popkirn.....

Doesn't he go to bishop Gorman which plays national power houses (like you said) and they have multiple nationally televised games every season.
There also isn't a recruiting service out there that hasn't agreed that Scott is a sleeper prospect.
At this point, stars don't matter. They're mostly for the fans any way. Scott is a tiger and if he works hard, can prove thru his play that there aren't 1000 better prospects than he is.
My opinion : he's going to be a fantastic college player

He had 40TD and 2INT his soph year.
Based on the first minute of film of Tate I just watched, he is faster and has a better arm than Lindsay. Also he didn't transfer in the middle of his HS career and plays for a MARQUEE school.

And that my friend is exactly why stars and position rankings mean absolutely nothing..

He plays at Bishop Gorman, they're a powerhouse like Paramus Catholic, St. Thomes Aquinas and Mater Dei. He has a stronger and more accurate arm than scott.

Just off the little film I have watched.
Martell does often have guys wide open.
He seems to have a strong arm, but he is much more elusive as well. He often throws to his first and only read though. Just stares down his target.
Scott doesn't look nearly as agile, but he goes through his reads and even utilizes the pump fake to get defenders to bite. Scott has tremendous QB smarts.

Maybe because of Height . A lot of the QB rankings are done off of projections. How the ranking person projects they will do in college. That's why rankings usually don't mean a whole lot. That is how pro baseball scouts ranks prospects as well. Which is why most baseball players don't pan out.

Same type of player just a lower rating for Scott, Scott will be great if LSU can adjust Ofense to fit his strengths

Excellent post Dlab. I'm beginning to believe that recruiting rankings are based more on subscriptions within certain fan bases than on any kind of consistent knowledge or ability to evaluate talent.

You see what had happened was..........

Martell be drinking that manziel kool aid

You're comparing stats not talent/ability. Scott will be a excellent QB and leader.

I'll take Scott all day long and twice on Saturday.
Boyziel couldn't, Allen couldn't, Murray didn't want none and Martell wont.

It's the ranking system the are going to rank you how they want to. Look at Murray that just transferred from A&M he was 5"11 and a 5*.

Good Lord.
Look. I hope Scott kills it here at LSU. He looks like he has some talent.
But if you watch video of Scott and then watch Video of Martell and you are having a hard time telling the difference, then I think it's safe to say you don't have a future as a talent evaluator.
I mean, cmon man.
Not to mention, I mean, you do realize these kids get a lot of up close time with coaches at camps where they are evaluated too. Cause, I mean, let's be reasonable here.
Even the best HS competition ain't good enough to make evaluating easy for coaches.
This is why looking only at HS stats can be so damned misleading. But shite, this Martell kid looks like he can throw a football through a wall. The ball comes out of his hands so fast you can barely detect when he chose to throw. He's fast as frick.
I mean, it's not exactly an insult to be rated lower than him. Get a grip.
