In the late 60's I remember it called an okie front, a 50 front or an odd front. Since that time there have been lots of names and variations. Basically it is a 5 man front. Usually a nose, a pair of tackles and ends. Today they may be called outside linebackers. Even the nose has been moved off the center to the right or left. Some teams have used a small quick nose to shoot gaps. Today the fad is to use 325lb plus nose to eat up two blockers and to control two gaps.

Yep. Crazy today. You even have sides of the ball doing different schemes. Example: Strong side to NT is playing 2-gap while weak side is playing 1-gap. Mix and match from there.
