I don't know if you can find a map. I hope I am wrong and someone can post a link. Basically from my understanding the way Louisiana has it is a natural body of water can not be owned and is public. A man made canal is private and can be owned. Talking to fisherman from other states if a canal connects to a public body of water then the canal would be public. This isn't the case in Louisiana. Also in Louisiana land doesn't have to be fenced, gated or have a posted sign on it... So, you can be fishing a canal with no gate and no posted signs and legally receive a ticket for trespassing.

Who has the authority to run someone out of a canal , bayou or any body of water?
Could it possibly be someone taking questionable authority in their own hands without legal justification. How do you know?

Do Game Wardens patrol these areas for the land owners or lease holders ?
Do Sherriff Deputies have nothing more important to do with all the crime on the streets ?
That's the only authorities out there other than the Coast Gaurd...

I mean who with authority really cares enough to justify their salary that's being paid by taxpayers by the way , to run the same taxpayers out of a fishing hole?

Putting gates up involves putting pilings down that requires permits.
Damming a canal I'm sure is another whole issue that I'm sure takes an act of congress.
So how do you know that a gate on a canal is legal and justified?

There are way more questions out there and way too few answers. At least answers from someone that has the power and authority to justify a legal answer to this issue.
